Hi, and welcome! I’m going to share with you five different types of virtual speaking opportunities that you can leverage to attract more of your ideal clients.
My name is Danielle, and what I do is empower speakers and event hosts to double and triple their business revenue by launching, speaking, and profiting from virtual events! I am super excited to share with you our topic for today because I know that speaking at virtual events has been a really big hot topic as of recently. I also know that when you can successfully leverage virtual events to your advantage, it can greatly increase your potential for getting more exposure, getting in front of your ideal clients, attracting more of the clients who are looking to work with you, and skyrocketing your business success.
So the first virtual speaking opportunity that I want to talk to you about is speaking or hosting a virtual summit.
So if you’re not familiar with what a virtual summit is, it’s much like an in-person conference or retreat that you may be familiar with, where you have 10 to 20 different speakers that come to speak about a particular topic to support an audience. However, in a virtual summit setting, all of those speakers come together in an online event experience. So there may be a specific topic as an over-arching theme, but then you may have 10 to 20 speakers who come and speak about their prior expertise in relation to that topic. That is what you call a virtual summit!
So virtual summits can be really wonderful for a number of different reasons. So if you are hosting a virtual summit, it can be really powerful for not only growing your revenue but also growing your email list full of qualified leads you may not have had access to before. It’s also a really great way to grow your business quickly because you’re getting in front of more people at once, and you’re also positioning yourself as the expert or as the host of that particular vent.
Taking this a step further, the same is true if you are a speaker for one of these virtual summits. For example, you are now a speaker in front of an audience of thousands of people who may be watching this virtual summit from the comfort of their home. You get to share about your specific topic, and then you get to provide value and possibly even give a free resource for someone to join your email list or stay connected with you even after sharing. These are people who are viewing or listening to your particular topic from the comfort of their home or from their office or wherever they are. They didn’t have to travel nor they didn’t have to do anything. You might even be in your home office or someplace like that, so it’s a really great way to get exposure without having a lot of extreme upfront costs in that regard. So that’s one type of virtual speaking opportunity!
The second type of virtual speaking opportunity is one you might not be fairly familiar with, but it’s still extremely powerful if you leverage it properly. You use this virtual speaking opportunity by leveraging podcasting to reach more people for your audience.
Podcasting is really powerful because if you can be featured on a podcast that has thousands and thousands of viewers who may be perfectly aligned with being a potential ideal client for you, you’re now getting exposure. Whether through maybe the interview style or sharing your tips through conversation with the podcast host, you’re now exposed to this particular audience as well. I know a lot of speakers actually leverage podcasting to book more speaking opportunities as well. If you are not leveraging podcasting, I highly encourage you to do so because there are lots of opportunities not just to reach a bigger audience, but to also grow your portfolio and grow your skillset as a speaker, so you can get booked for more speaking opportunities!
So let’s move on to virtual speaking opportunity number three, which is launching a live webinar!
It can be anywhere between 60 minutes to 2 hours. It’s not as extensive as a virtual summit, but it’s still really powerful because if you can get an audience to be present and listen to you through a virtual webinar or a live training of some type for a minimum of 60 minutes, it’s really a great opportunity for you to capture their attention and share the next steps of how they can continue working with you.
So I know for me when I first started really leveraging my virtual stage, doing a live webinar training was one of the strategies that I use in order to inform my audience as well as to give the next steps on how we can continue working together.
So this is one that I highly recommend. It has a very low cost of entry to get started. You just have to have a tool that you can host your webinar on, as well as a microphone and a camera for your particular event. Once you have that, then you’re set to go! It would just be a matter of promoting, getting people signed up and registered for your live webinar, and then doing your presentation.
So the fourth type of online speaking opportunity that I want to share with you is doing a live broadcast on social media… so I’m talking Facebook as well as Instagram Live.
Now, you can do this by yourself. I’ve done both Facebook Lives and Instagram Lives fairly inconsistently to grow my business, but one of the most recent types that I’ve done (which has really fun bu the way), is doing an Instagram Live collaboration. If you’re familiar with Instagram, one of the cool things that you can do is that you can actually invite another Instagram user to join you live and have a conversation through the live broadcast. It’s super cool!
You can also do this on Facebook using Zoom.
Overall, I really like this method because it’s super easy. If you have a social media account as well as have a friend that has one too, you can literally cross-pollinate your audiences by giving valuable content on a platform where your clients are anyway. They don’t have to register for anything; they just click and they join. It’s super easy and a really great way to start leveraging your virtual stage!
The fifth one I want to share with you is a pre-recorded workshop.
This is a really great strategy that you can use to build your online presence. You can do this through a pre-recorded webinar or maybe a free email training where you have pre-recorded videos or workshop content that you stream out via email.
You can also do a pre-recorded webinar or a 60-minute workshop where you can sell an evergreen product or workshop for people over and over again. Anyone who didn’t get a chance to join your live webinar, you can have the replay available as a pre-recorded opt-in for anyone who wants to purchase and get access to that at a later date. This is a really great option if you’re wanting to have evergreen content or maybe if you find that your schedule is a little crazy and you still want to showcase your expertise as a speaker.
Build your audience trust and continue to cultivate those connections with your audience. Just leverage a free recorded option and funnel it out to people who are still very interested to learn from you.
Online, or what I like to say, your virtual stage… leverage that as your online speaking opportunity to really begin to connect with your audience. It’s a really great way to do that, especially if you feel like maybe you don’t have all the time in the world to continually do live broadcasts!
These are my five types of online speaking opportunities that you can leverage to really grow your exposure, showcase your expertise as a speaker, really grow your audience, and attract more of your ideal clients.
